Offering a range of ultrasound scans and ultrasound guided MSK injections

Ultrasound Scans

Ultrasound scans, are a safe and painless imaging technique used to visualise internal organs and structures within the body. This non-invasive procedure utilises high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images, allowing our medical professionals to assess various health conditions without the need for radiation or surgery.  Our skilled team of sonographers and radiologists use state-of-the-art equipment to provide accurate and detailed images, assisting in the early detection and effective management of health issues.

Ultrasound Guided MSK Injections

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Injections are a specialised treatment designed to alleviate pain and inflammation in specific areas affected by musculoskeletal conditions. The procedure involves injecting medication directly into the affected joint, tendon, or soft tissue. These injections are performed by our experienced consultant using ultrasound guidance to ensure accurate placement of the medication. MSK steroid injections offer rapid pain relief and improved mobility without the need for surgery, making them an effective and minimally invasive option for managing musculoskeletal pain.

Frequently Asked Questions…

An ultrasound scan, also known as sonography, is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to produce real-time images of internal structures in the body. It helps diagnose and monitor various health conditions without using radiation.

The duration of an ultrasound appointment can vary depending on the type of scan. Generally, appointments can take between 15 to 45 minutes. More detailed or specialised scans may take longer.

Yes, ultrasound scans are safe during pregnancy and are commonly used to monitor foetal development and health. They do not use ionizing radiation and pose no known risks to the developing baby.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to your ultrasound appointment. They can provide support and be with you during the procedure if you wish.

During your appointment, a trained sonographer will apply a water-based gel to the skin over the area being examined. They will then move a handheld transducer over the area to capture images. The procedure is painless and non-invasive.

Our skilled radiologists will interpret the images and generate a detailed report of the findings. In most cases, your referring physician will receive the results within a few days. Urgent or critical findings will be communicated promptly.

Yes, we offer specialised vascular ultrasounds, including Carotid Duplex examinations and Abdominal Aorta surveillance. These scans help assess blood flow and detect potential vascular issues.

To schedule an ultrasound appointment, you can contact our clinic directly or have your physician provide a referral. Our friendly staff will assist you in arranging a convenient date and time for your scan.

MSK Ultrasound Guided Injections are specialised procedures in which medication, such as corticosteroids or other therapeutic substances, is injected directly into the affected joint, tendon, or soft tissue under real-time ultrasound guidance. This precise technique ensures accurate needle placement and maximises the effectiveness of the treatment.

These injections are commonly used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, including tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, sports injuries, and other inflammatory or degenerative disorders affecting joints and soft tissues.

Ultrasound-guided injections provide real-time visualisation of the needle and the targeted area, allowing the medical professional to guide the needle with increased accuracy. This enhances the delivery of the medication to the exact location of the problem, leading to improved outcomes and better pain relief compared to traditional blind injections.

The procedure is relatively well-tolerated and causes minimal discomfort. Before the injection, a local anaesthetic may be applied to numb the skin, which further reduces any potential pain or discomfort during the procedure.

The duration of the procedure can vary depending on the specific condition being treated and the complexity of the injection. Generally, the process takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

After the injection, you may experience some soreness or mild discomfort at the injection site. This is normal and should subside within a few days. The doctor will provide post-injection care instructions to optimise the benefits of the treatment.

Pain relief may vary from person to person and depending on the specific condition being treated. While some patients experience immediate relief, others may notice improvements within a few days or up to a week after the injection.

As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, though they are generally rare. These may include infection, allergic reactions, and temporary aggravation of symptoms. The doctor will discuss any specific risks related to your individual case.

The number of injections required depends on the nature of your condition and your response to the treatment. Some patients may find relief after a single injection, while others may need a series of injections over time to achieve optimal results.
